Hey I am in process of drooping the tank but it looks like the stem coming out of the sending unit is catching the frame as I push up on the tail end side. How do you get the sending unit out? It looks like I could Trieste it? I saw the other post and my tank does not look like that.

David, the sending unit shouldn't catch on anything as far as I know. Are you dropping the tank out before you try to remove the sending unit? I may be reading this wrong but your not trying to take the sending unit out before the tanks out? If so it will not work. What may be catching is the fuel lines. They need to be disconnected before the tank will come out. Then you can remove the sending unit once the tank is out, thanks.

You should be able to remove the tank with the sender unit installed, tho it might be easier with it out. Just be sure the tank is empty first!
If you want to remove the sender, it is held in with a "lock ring" around the outer edge of it. You can use a screwdriver and small hammer to tap it around..yes, it does just twist off. A better tool is a brass drift punch, or something solid that will not create any sparks! Try spraying the ring with some WD40 or something like that first...it will help.
I have to assume you have the fuel lines disconnected from the frame, if yer pulling the tank...don't you?

Hey guys thanks for the response. It's strange after I made my post I went out and saw that there were tubes on the drive side so I disconnected them and the damn thing just fell out
Go figure.

So off to the radiator shop for the dip and clean.
