Another newbie question.  My front exhaust pipe hanger is not connected to the pipe.  Something is missing I think but I'm not sure what.  Is it supposed to connect to the pipe with a clamp or strap of some kind?  Here's a diagram of what I am talking about.  I have a 4 speed.

A C-Clamp goes over the bracket as it goes around the pipe.  There should be a pipe connection there as well.

You should have a clamp similar to this...

That's what I thought.  Thanks for the info guys.  I just finished replacing my rear spring and at the same time, I removed my catalytic converter.  Man what a difference.  My ride height problem was solved with the spring and the removal of the cat made a huge difference in the performance.  It must have been partially blocked.  I getting closer to the perfect corvette experience!

What did you replace it with, leaf or composite? How easy/bad was the job to do?

I was torn between the stock 7 leaf and composite.  I went with with a 7 leaf steel spring from Muskegon Brake.  I like the ride of the steel spring.  The spring replacement was easy.  Fighting through 30+ years of rust was the tricky part.  I also replaced my differential mount bushings, pinion seal and shocks while I was at it.  This is also a good time to check your rear universal joints.
