Vette(s): 1982 C3 Collectors Edition 44000 miles, sat in the sun most of its life, My wife purchased it for me for Father's Day in 2007 from her girlfriend that had it for 19 years. It is on the road again. I'm retired but it is now my daily driver.
This is just to provide forum readers with an issue I had and no one could figure out the cause.
Just wanted to get this out just in case in the future someone has this problem.

My fuel gauge would bounce around like the fuel was sloshing around in the tank but it would do it when the tank was full or when the car was stopped. Could not figure out the reason until I was looking at the electrical drawings. It looked to me like there could be two sets of coils in the fuel gauge. I could not find anything on this but I had purchased a fuel gauge a long time ago but never installed it. I had to take the center gauge consult out so while it was out I replaced the gauge.
I have now read that the gauge has a dampening coil built into it.
The replacement of the gauge took care of the issue.
