Hey guys,
Wondering if anybody has swapped the carb for fuel injection. When I put the new motor in I'm going to switch to fuel injection and I'm thinking of going with the Holley Commander 950 Multi-Point Fuel Injection system. Anybody have any opinions on their favorite fuel injection systems?

I don't have any experience with any fuel injection units for our cars, but a mechanic I know and trust has told me I should think about installing the Holley system on my '78. I simply don't drive it enough to think about spending that much.
You might do some research and check out the Edelbrock system as well. I don't know which might be better for you, but from what I've been able to determine is the Holley system may be more sophisticated and the Edelbrock system is simpler and easier to install.
Let us know what you decide and your experience installing it and performance results.

Fuel injection beat any carb, any day. It's better in every way. More responsive, better power, better mileage, cleaner running.
The drawback is the cost and complexity. And with aftermarket, information and parts for repairs, depending on the system you buy. The best ones allow a lap top to fine tune them. But that's again more cost and complexity. Factory systems from newer cars are less adjustable, but can be easily serviced.
Either way, with a good system you can't go wrong. The only thing wounded will be your wallet.

I converted my '73 to Chevy TBI with a Holley 650CFM Throttle Body. It use the computer controlled distributor. I got this setup through Howell. Overall the car runs well. I was not that pleased with Howell's service.
If I had it to do again, I would convert to Chevy TPI Multiport.
I would only consider the systems that are multiport. Having run mine without the computer controlled distributor. I would look for systems that do control the spark. Mine runs far better with the computer controlled distributor.

I like how Steve thinks...I'll second that!

I'm still doing a little research on EFI systems for my car. So far I know that I'm not gonna go with the Holley system. It's narrowed down to a GM tuned port system (speed density) or the Edelbrock ProFlo MPFI system, P/N 3507. I'm still figuring out which system will best fit my needs. So far Edelbrock is.

I ended up ordering a Holley MultiPort fuel injection kit. The motor is coming in this week, so I haven't done anything with the kit yet. I was thinking of going with the Holley Stealth Ram MultiPort fuel injection kit, but a call to Holley confirmed that the manifold would not fit with my FastBurn heads. Once its on and running I'll let you know how it turned out although since the entire car will be different, I don't know if I'll be able to be so specific on how the fuel injection is.

Not yet anyway. Look for it early part of '05. (FYI, you didn't hear that from me if anyone asks). Also I would be more concerned about the Stealth ram fitting under the hood. Its slightly taller then a TPI unit. It is a stunning unit. Also if your not aware, the Commander 950's can now be upgraded to wide band 02. Not sure if it would clear a cowl hood or not in a C3.
