Well I did it again I read one of my manuals and now I'm confused. I have three lines running from my tank. I was planning on using the smaller one next to the main fuel line for a return from my pressure regulator, will this work?
My manual described a pressurized fuel line going to the carb in addition to the main fuel line and that's what threw me.

Some of the fuel pumps had a return line. This helped keep the fuel cool, and prevented vapor lock. That was often the third line on the tank.

hi
on my 71 i only had the gas line running down the pass side.
i bought stn stl lines and i put in the extra line.
my question is,
do i need to use it?
454 engine.
the chrome fuel pump i bought looks to have a 3rd port. i'm assuming that is for the return line.
thanks

What kind of fuel pump is it? I hooked up all three of mine. Fuel the return, (passenger side) and the vapor line (drivers side), just so I wouldn't have any issues.

Jason, this is a regulator for an after market electric pump?

You might want to reference the pump with BG's website so you know what kind of volume it's pushing. I put a Holley pressure reg/w return line and a 130 gph Jeg's(Holley knock off) Mech pump.
A lot of people do plug off the vapor return line with no issues(so I've been told...) and since I still had the vapor can I figured what the hay, might as well eliminate any possible vapor lock gremlins with the higher volume I'm running.
I did have some issues with the fuel line fittings off of the pump being too close to the frame but the pump was adjustable and a couple of 90 dg fittings solved that problem. If your pump has the lines on the bottom then it shouldn't be an issue.
