Rebuilding my 82.
New crate 383, with Q-jet carb.
Question,  will i be able to use the intank fuel pump that fed the TBI's on the old 350? The pump is not as high a pressure as on TPI'S and i plan on using a high quality pressure regulator.
The old system was a circle system with a line going out of the tank and a return line to the tank.
Shall i block off the return line?
Any info will be appreciated

You can run the original, in-tank pump, with an external adjustable regulator with no problems. You are correct that the '82 TBI system uses a lower pressure than the later, TPI systems. It would still be about twice as much pressure as a carb needle/seat could handle.
You can either block the return, or keep it functional...the issue would be how to make a "return" system from a carb set-up, with an electric pump(this would depend on the regulator you use...some have provisions for returns).
So...just block the line, to keep trash out of it.

You will have to rewire the power to the pump relay. The old one came from the computer, so you will need power from a sorce that is controlled by the ignition switch.

Say Dave as long as your there, Did you keep your origainal bumper covers, or did you try the Flex Fit? If you kept the originals how did your paint adhear to them, and is there a secret to getting the waves out of the front one?
Thanks

My bumpers are original and I did not paint the car so I can't help you with that. Mine have the waves in them and I don't plan on changing them anytime soon due to budget restrictions Disapprove
Good Luck with your's,
Dave

Warp2;
There is no problem getting paint to stick to the original bumpers.  Just use a quality urethane primer and paint, and normal surface prep.  There is no good way to get rid of the waves short of grinding and filling with urethane repair putty.  And that is more trouble than it is worth.  We have had excellent luck with the Tru-Flex bumpers.  They are cheaper, easier to install, don't crack like fiberglass ones do, and flex a little if you bump into something.
