Vette(s): 1974 Roadster being restored now!
Hey everyone...

Anyone know where I can get the Fuel Vapor canister, or the Charcoal Canister for my 74? Anyone know the official name or part number?

Thanks a lot

I can't remember anything like that on my '74, but then I have trouble remembering breakfast most days. |laugh|
If no one answers you in a reasonable amount of time maybe it IS called something else, please put a pic of it out here.

Thanks for your reply as always!

I found it at Zip... it was just $3.50, and it was called the fuel vapor canister. There's a line that goes from the drivers side of the gas tank down to the fender where the alarm key is. The canister is full of charcoal and is supposed to absorb all the fuel vapors and get rid of the gas smell... it should be here in a couple of days, if you still want pics, I can take them when I install...

thanks

Thanks Imran. I guess my '74 was stolen before I needed to change the filter. Honestly never heard of it till your post. Guess I will have to look up under the '69 to see if this is a standard item on C3s !

Sorry to hear about your 74, but I'm sure getting behind your 69 now makes you totally forget about your 74 :) Beautiful car...

To tell you thet truth, I hadn't heard of this canister either until we put in the new gas tank and I filled it up for the first time. Smart me over-filled the tank while checking for leaks, and the fuel went up the line and flooded the canister, and that's why I need a new one!

Moral of the story... don't over-fill your gas tank, new or old.

I have to change it because now it REALLY makes the garage stink of gas

I just bought one this past spring, I went to the local Chevrolet dealer and they ordered it from GM. It was about $75.00. This was for a 71. I think it was referred to as a fuel canister.

I'm assuming that you purchased the entire assembly?

My assembly was in pretty good shape, just needed some cleaning. But my filter itself was shot. So I just ordered the filter from Zip, it was $3.50, but I haven't gotten it yet (in the mail, pshh)

I'll let you guys know how things go...
