Recently a mell of gas has begun to fill the cabin, it is very pronounced when the tank is full, and it will stabilize when I am going straight. When I make turns or hit a bump the smell gets worse. Does the fuel tank vent throught he cabin or smoething like that? I have a 1973 350/270 coupe.

Common problem.......Usual culprit is a bad gas cap. it worked for me.

Good luck,

My 71 was doing this. It was the gasket between the filler neck and the tank had deteriorated to almost nothing.
YAH, YOU REALLY HAVE TO CAREFULL ABOUT THAT GAS SMELL THAT IS COMING FROM YOUR REAR, ALMOST TOXIC, SO I'VE HEARD. JUST COULDN'T RESIST.

I have a 74 and my problem was with the over flow hose. It was cracked about 1 inch from the filler neck. The smell was very strong when the tank was full, after the level went down a bit the smell was gone.

All of the above plus check your drains by the back window one on each side. The rubber hose is inside the rear compartment. If they are dried out or cracked they will allow fumes to enter the cabin. They will also let water in also but I doubt our sharks are out in the rain.

All of the above could be a source.
Since it is more strong when full, and turning corners, I would check the vapor return/separator, on the upper driver's side of the tank. It is plastic, and they do crack over time. The hoses for the vapor return, and the fuel pump return on the pass. side can also be cracked/damaged, allowing a fuel smell when turning, or when full.
After the fuel level lowers somewhat, the raw fuel in the tank will not be high enough to sneak out of these places. It is possible there is a hole/crack in the tank somehwere around the top.
Bottom line is, it will most likely be a fuel hose on the tank.
