Anybody knows the difference between this 2 mufflers for a HOOKER side pipe?
Glasspack makes too much noise ?
Ps: I use my vette on week end so it's not a daily car.

Vette Magazine did an install article on these pieces. Basically its a trade out. Quiet or Power. Glasspacks make more power and are louder. Reverse flow are similar to a turbo and are quieter. Side pipes are going to be loud either way in comparison to an undercar system because the exhaust exit is at the end of the door on each side just below where you will be seated. So if your going to be listening to noise anyway I would go for power and a little louder, then the reverse flow design.

On a small block, the reverse flow aren't very loud at all. Mine are almost too quiet, when the sidepipes were installed (used), they had glasspacks, they were very loud, probably because of burned out fiberglass packing. so when we ordered replacement mufflers & tubes, we went with the reverse flow turbo's. What a let down. At idle, you can barely hear them. Even when you stand on the gas, they aren't nearly as loud or throaty as you would expect sidepipes to be, or should be. I had a '78 Malibu that with a stock 350/4bbl, headers, 2" full dual exhaust w/generic turbo mufflers that sounded better all the way around. At idle, the Malibu had a mellow burble or rumble, and when you stood on it, they roared.
My opinion is that if you are only going to use your Vette on weekends and crusing, go with the glasspacks, or look into STS Baffles:

I've heard good things about these inserts. Remind me of a grain auger we use to move grain into storage bins.

Tanks
I will take glasspack

Hi
I use the reverse flows for 1 day every second year to pass the governemental noise test.
They tested 10 Meters behind the car with 4000 RPM and read 78 Decibel only.
My 68 solid lifter big block sounds like a Cadillac and I can't wait to install the L88 racing tubes to make the car sound the way it looks.
Reverse flow mufflers also kill the engine's power.

I am told by Hooker the solution is Spiral Turbo Baffles.
