Hi All, Happy Holidays
Looking to install headers on my 79 L82 auto trans. Iam in my sixties and partially disabled so I need
something that fits easy. Don't care if they are shorties, mid long,or long tubes. I do want to use my existing
exhaust,I know that isn't ideal by any means but thestock style was replaced with stainless system was installed two years ago with Magnaflow mufflers.
Hope there is something that would work.
Thanks
Jimmy

Hey Jimmy,
I went with this set up: http://www.parts123.com/parts123/yb.dll?parta~partsort~1~cadefibQ
I have an 81 with a crate motor. Although you will need something different I posted this to let you know 2 things: 1. that this system bolted right in and before I bought it the folks at Corvette Central were great and answered all my questions, 2. I am also handicapped(OK all you wise asses,I'm talking physical here!), bad back. This system took me a very long time to put in...weeks. But that was due to only being able to work 15 minutes at a time and I wouldn't work on it unless I was feeling really good.
With no back issues and not having a lift I would say it would've been a 2 hour job max. That would be with a few breaks in the mix. Pretty easy.
Dave C..........My mantra: I can not be bought!! Long and short term leases available.
In the words of Zora Arkus-Duntov "Is your seat belt fastened? Alright, Let's go"
Yeah, I know, Shut up Dave.
Yeah, I know, Shut up Dave.

Thanks for your reply. The CC setup is what I was thinking of but just getting the
shorty headers and adapting that to my system. I would like to know what brand
(part number) they use?

I also used the Corvette Central setup on my 1980.
P/N 323236 - Patriot Ceramic-Coated Tight-Tuck Exhaust Header

P/N 323018 - Corvette Central 2 ½-inch Aluminum Dual Exhaust
P/N 323454 - MAGNAFLOW 2 ½-inch Mufflers
No complaints. Good luck.

Since you are using your current stock style exhaust system, this is the only straight bolt in replacement header I could think of.

They are available in 2 or 2.5" collector sizes and 1 5/8" or 1 3/4" primary tube sizes. A little pricey but they made here in the USA, ceramic coated and have a copper coating inside to help reduce the under hood heat.
