hedman's website says they'll fit my 78 vette but a footnote says this
will these require any modifications to install. I can bolt on headers but I dont want to modify anything

"Will not fit steering damper inside front crossmember."
The way I read this is, they will not work on non-power(manual) steering cars. IT may mean, however, that they will not work with power steering. Non-power steering cars have a "damper" on the linkage, where the PS cars have the control valve and cylinder. The disclaimer is a bit confusing on that point. You may need to contact them for clarification on that.
" Without smog injection or injection heads"
This means they do not have provisions for the smog tubes. If your car has the smog tubes going into the exhaust manifolds, you'll have to dis-able the smog system. If you do NOT have the tubes going into the manifolds, you're good to go.

when i bought my hedman headers it had the same disclaimer. They ended up fitting better then any header I ever put on. mine is a 74 auto 350 with ac and air.
