Ok guys

I know this question has been asked many times before, but forum searches come up with weird results.
so here it goes. I recently installed true duel 2 1\2 exhaust with magnoflow 12256's using stock manifolds for now. But yesterday I got a little bonus money and would like to buy a set of headers. nothing fancy(that'll come later)
has to be less than $200. I've found these three options.

1.http://www.summitracing.com/parts/SUM-G9003/

2.http://www.summitracing.com/parts/BIG-11106FLT/

3.http://www.summitracing.com/parts/HOK-2456HKR/

My main concern is fitment. I'm looking for YOUR opinion on which pair fit the best. I can't modify anything so I'd prefer as close to a straight bolt on as possible.

Please chime in with some advise this will be my first set of headers.

Thnx
JWilly

It looks like you're looking for full sized headers.  But another option is the "shorty" or tight tuck headers.  I have 2 1/2-inch dual exhaust and Magnaflow mufflers on my '80.  I put Patriot tight tuck headers on mine.  I got the ceramic coated ones but if your budget limit is $200, you might check these.

Scrappy, I can not speak for what will fit your 78 with out having to do any mods, The huggers the Charles referred to look to be a nice set up. If I understand them correctly you can bolt your original pipes up to them as well. This would save you from having to spend money to have someone cut and weld your down pipes to a set of full length headers. I put a set of full length hedman headers on my 74 last year. Fit was great. I didnt have to bend or move anything and they went on very easily, they also have a ball and socket flange which I like for sealing up the connection better that a flat flange. Summit sells them as well. Let us know what you decide and good luck with the fitting either way!

I pretty sure I'm looking for a mid to full length header. the shop that did the new exhaust will connect the headers to the exhaust.
I'm afraid of issues like having to remove parts or modify existing parts so the headers will fit. An example is the idler arm hitting the primaries
I have a stock 78 with ps,pb,and ac.
what kind do you guys run? are hookers really worth the xtra $$$.
what kind of problems might i run into installing them?

Confused Are the prices for the shortys by the pair? Or is that per side and you have to by both sides? The prices seem to be very inexpensive.

I think they are for the pair but I don't know for sure.  I got my headers as a complete set-up from Corvette Central that included the headers, the dual exhaust, and the Magnaflow mufflers.

Smile Hey Scrappy! There is a set of full size USED headers on the C-3 parts market on E-bay. They are only on for three more days, price starts at $30.00. NO bids yet.  LOL

I used the Sanderson  Shorty Block huggers.  They are Gasketless, and took very little modification with original exhaust location.  Ceramic coated as well.  I called them and they gave me the suggested ones for the application.  Can't hurt to check with them before you buy elswhere.
