For all you "late" ('79 in my case) Shark owners out there who have installed headers on your cars, what is the best way to install them? Is it better to go in from the top or bottom? Just looking at my car I would guess that going up from the bottom is easiest, but there seem to be a lot of obstructions in the way. Do I need to remove the starter?

I'm getting ready to purchase Dynomax jet-hot ceramic coated headers, Hooker dual exhaust kit, and Dynomax mufflers VERY soon, so any advice or insight would be most appreciated! Thanks!

In from the top, starter off. Check your clearances between the starter and it's wiring after the tubes are in. You'll probably have to remove the A.C and alternator as well. I put the ceramic tubes and side pipes on a modified '73 and they fit nicely, looked good on a flared body too! Just be sure you keep your starter wires away from the pipes!

You may have to reroute the ground cable from the frame to block, just find another bolt out of the way. For the AC compressor bracket you'll need a stack of washers or short length of pipe to space it out from the header flange since the flange is considerably thinner than the stock manifold. Once the manifolds are off you would be surprised at the room you find! Mike

My headers either came with or you could order a bracket for the A.C.

Different bracket for 79 with the R4 AC compressor. Just need a spacer. Mike
