Ok, I want to put headers and side pipes on the 77 L82. I see most everyone on here that has side pipes uses the Hooker Super Comp headers and the pipes from hooker. Pretty Pricey! Just wondering if I were to put a cheaper set of Long tube headers on if there is a set of side pipes that will hook up to them, or a way to hook up side pipes to headers other than the Hooker Super Comps! Thanks for the help!

For those of us who really don't understand exactly how headers improve performance could someone layout the basics of the issue? Not just long vs. short, but exhaust headers in general. I hate to sound like a complete ingnoramus on this issue . . . but I am!

Come one guys, anyone using any side pipes w/ headers other than Hooker super comps?

headers help your motors preformance alot ,there is other pipe makers out there that make aless pricey set of headers and sidepipe setups ,look on summits site and others , i got my first set of hookers for a 1000 now there only 600.00 thats not to bad for that setup !!

I'm using Stahl sidepipe headers with home made SS sidepipes.

Here's shot of a 69 with small block and Stahl's

Summit Racing also carries Patriot Exhaust. Patriot has chrome side pipes. They are a universal kit and list for $189. I have also seen them on e-bay for sale. This would be the econo route. Not my choice, but it is an option. There are several good brands of headers on the market. Shop around until you find one that fits your budget. I, like many, run the Hooker headers. They are a good quality header.
