I have a 1970 stock 350 sbc and I was wondering what’s the best fit. Long tube headers or short tube headers. I’ve heard some have an issue with short tube headers flange hitting the starter. But so long tube header hang to low?

I had Hooker style Nest of Snakes headers on mine for a while.  The only clearance problem I had was with the air conditioner compressor bracket and I had to dimple a little bit of the tube to clear it.

I have the original matching-numbers 350 block.. Back in 2012 when it came time to seriously up the performance, I partnered with Calvin & Tim Nabors at Nabors Automotive here in Lawrenceville to build a kick-ass setup.  For the headers,  we selected the Flowtech 31106FLT headers.  They're long-tube, ceramic-coated and fit perfect.  No clearance issues anywhere.  They look great and even over many years, keep their good looks.  Along with all the other goodies, they were an excellent choice.

I have the same headers as Vette78RL listed in his reply on my 1977 L82 -  Flowtech 31106FLT headers.  Mine were installed a few years back as well and still look good too. 

Sorry for the fog, but these ceramics are made by Blackjack. I bought them from another member. One little dimple (yellow) had to be made for the Longer-than-necessary Idle Arm mounting bolt. Cutting the bolt down would have made the dimple unnecessary, but muffler shops like to work fast.

Which ever ceramic header you choose, I know you'll be happy with the material. Cooler temperatures in the engine bay mean cooler temps for the driver/pax, and cool to touch 10 min after shutdown! Amazing difference compared to the stock ram-horn stoves you are replacing.
