Vette(s): 1981, Black/Black, Engine bumped to about 400HP.Ext/int mostly stock.
I am replacing my sidepipe inserts with the "Sweet Thunder" inserts.  The ends of the inserts flair out, but still do not fit snugly in the 4" Hooker sidepipes.  The "Spiral Turbo" inserts they are replacing have a nut welded into each end of the insert to accept a bolt that tightens them in the pipe.   These have nothing like that.  So how do you guys attach these kind of inserts in the sidepipes and keep them from rattling?  One idea I have was to get some kind of wire mesh to wrap around the narrower center section.  Anyone tried anything like that?

Nope. But I would make sure it is stainless steel so it doesn't rust.
Will it restrict the flow of the exhaust?

Take them out...

(sorry...I couldn't let that one go...)

Can you have a nut, or something similar, welded to the ends of the new inserts?
