Carburetor swap. I have been told that there are no after-market intake/carburetors combo that will fit under the original hood. I looked into JEGS and Summit and spoke with their tech dept. Neither came up with a combo that works.

Has anyone found something that works?

Thanks, Bill

Do you not have a big block hood?

Here is an interesting thread, note post #6.

Also, put "carb and intake for 72 corvette" in your search engine....

Vette(s): SOLD - "The Toy" - '70 Convertible
SOLD - "The Beast" - '90 ZR-1 (#682)
SOLD - "Betty" - '28 Ford Model A Tudor
Sold - "BLKBRRD" - '78 Pontiac Trans Am
"BLUBYU" - '04 Coupe

Don't know if this is any help but "The Toy", the '70 convertible I owned for a bunch of years, was built in early February of '70 with the base 350ci.  When I bought it in 2000 there was a Holley carb on it instead of a Q-jet.  There was enough clearance under the stock hood to add in a few layers of Mr Gasket stuff to help insulate the carb from the manifold (which solved the heat soak issue I was having).

The BB sits higher. Even though I have a BB Stock Hood, I was told that the after market intakes are taller (better air flow/draft) and I would need to change my hood for that. Not changing the hood. I just spoke with the guy who is building the engine for me and he said he would re-jet and make the stock Q-Jet work for me. Thanks for all the input.

Didn't realize there was that much difference in size between the "Mouse" and the "Rat".  Glad a solution was worked out.

Hey Norsky, Been a while since I've heard that moniker for the SBC and BBC. It goes back to early wrenching days and dirt tracks. Showin our age my friend!
