I have been putting my pedal components together and have wasted much time looking for this switch which obviously wasn't working (rolls of electrical tape on it) It is located on the bracket that secures pedal to firewall.  On all sites i have visited it is a Kickdown switch,  looks identical to the one I removed but heres the kicker, My 75 is a manual and all info says they r for automatics, so why is it there?  Help me out someone?

The safety switch on the clutch to disallow you to attempt to start the car in gear and cause a bent part of your or someone elses car.

That switch is for the cowl induction door on the hood, assuming yours is an early build '75. It is the same exact switch as used for the automatic trans kickdown.

Kickdown switch

The cowl induction set-up was only used on the '73-'74-early '75 cars. On auto trans cars, the same switch was used to operate both the cowl door and the trans kickdown/passing gear. The correct term for it is kickdown switch. Thumbs Up
