Locking gas cap?

I'm thinking with my towns increasing crime rates in recent years,I should think about securing my vette better...such as a basic alarm/keyless entry system and a locking gas cap.Plus with fuel prices up I expect to see more gas siphoning going on as well. I got my door keyed recently too.    ...Is there any particular style or brad of locking caps for our C3's.I think I had a plastic Stant on my former Camaro,but those seem flimsy & cheap.I broke into that one myself. Thanks

check on ebay motors under parts and accessories for corvettes. I've seen them there. My 76 has a metal one keyed for my accessory key so I have to think it came from the dealer originally.

I got one last spring from the local auto parts store.
Don't know what brand it is, but I like it.
Black plastic, moulded finger knobs on the O.D.
Key in the center.
Keeps most people out.
If someone wants the gas bad enough, they'll get it off.

I've got a locking cap on my '74..............its called a Garage!

Check your local parts house, they'll have one. GM did offer them back in the day as an accessory. It was VERY popular back in '73-74!

There is also a spring you can put down in the filler neck to keep siphon hoses out of there, but I don't know if/where you can still get them. You would have to remove the filler neck to put it in an unleaded filler, so its really a pain.
Go for the lock cap, and get a steering wheel bar. The ones I have go from the wheel to the brake pedal, and are almost impossible to remove/bypass.
Also, a battery disconnect is a good deterant, as most thieves won't waste their time on one that won't start. You may get a hole in the door, or a busted winder, but you'll still have your 'Vette!

I've got the knob on my battery terminal that I usually just turn,but I should start taking it with me.I have a bar that goes from the wheel to the top of the dash with an alarm in it.I think I need a cap & not the spring in the gas neck,too,because I also dont want anything put in my tank like sugar or something, the more cash I put into the shark.I'll check around locally,because the only cap fot a 79 I just saw on eBay was the black plastic for $15.oo with $8 shipping!

Hopefully locking caps will keep most thieves out but I remember back in '70's they (gas thieves) would just poke a whole in the bvottom of the tank and take what they could if they couldn't get thru the filler... doesn't take much to poke a hole in one.

[/QUOTE] Never even considered that!  Sounds like more trouble to do,but if you're desperate enough....Also,my 79 has been lowered 1.5",so it might be pretty tough to reach my tank!  ..-I heard that to get into C4's,they just poke a hole in the battery,thats behind the side vent,& wait for it to drain & disable the alarm system,etc.   ...-I guess I'll call around today,to Napa,Carquest,& the one other parts store in town to see what kind of locking caps are available in stock C3RVETTE38595.5283912037
