Vette(s): 1979 L82 Manual
1979 L82 4 Sp Manual.  I see lots of very fine soot in the garage (storage, not repair) area, it makes me wonder if I have a hole in the exhaust system.  What other signs would I have if that was the problem?  BTW, "lot" is subjective... I guess I really don't know what the normal amount should be!

Thanks

Check for signs of soot on your exhaust pipes.  Especially at joints.

Cars with converters typically have a lot of carbon inside the pipes. Mufflers usually have a small drain hole to drain excess condensation out of them and you might be seeing carbon come out with that moisture. As previously stated, check any joints for leakage.
