They should be 2 1/2" with the inlet on the inside of the car, and the outlet centered. Correctly, there should be one seamless pipe from the transmission crossmember to the muffler, and the muffler should be a welded part of the pipe. There shouldn't even be a joint. Correct replacement mufflers have a curved inlet that only lets you put them on the right way.

Thanks for the information,,,.........................I want something with a little more sound than the stock original mufflers that come with most "systems." I dont want the chambered exhaust sound just a little rumble, like flowmaster or dynomax. Year One offers a system without mufflers, so I figured I could then get the mufflers of my choice and put them on.

Corvette Specialties can have a system made that looks like original, in 2" or 2 1/2" , and with one or two baffles left out of the mufflers. They sound like the originals, but louder, and louder again. They are $379.95 fir the whole system, including donuts and clamps, but not including hangers.
