Get the clamps. It will complete the system. Buy at the local auto parts place. The cat is fine as is. I put anti-seize on all of my bolts when I put them together. You might be able to trade the front Y with somebody for the correct one and keep it on hand as a spare.

What do you mean the cat is fine as is? Mine, or the one you sent me?

The new one. Just put it on. I don't think that the smaller diameter is an issue. You will have a great system with the mufflers from Kdaddy.

A lot of replacement cat converters are much smaller than original...I wouldn't worry too much about that. Technology has come a LONG way since '79....
If it bolts up, you should be good to go on that. New clamps would be best...just because yours came off otay don't mean they'll go back on and tighten otay. Might as well splurge, and spend the extra $2-3 each for the clamps...

Adam, you will feel the difference with a new cat on there. I'm sure the old one is pretty well clogged up. By the way, and this also answers your question about why people join and stay on this site! Very generous guys!
