I just got my new tank today and I have kind of a dumb question, do I need to put some kind of paint or something on it to prevent it from rusting. Also do I need to treat the inside. I bought it from Ecklers, and it is the reproduction with the O.L. Anderson Logo. It looks great and everything is correct and in the right place. $283.23 delivered. I ordered all the other parts from Doc Rebuild. They do not sell reproduction tanks anymore.

Thanks for the help.

You do not need to paint, or coat either side...they have a coating on them that keeps them looking good, and rust free much better than the originals.
(Your tank came from Quanta via Ecklers, btw.)

I bought the tank for the '74 directly from Quanta about 7-8 years ago, and it still looks new, inside and out. Adams' Apple2007-08-28 19:42:24

Lonnie, just a suggestion but while you have the tank out you might want to clean and paint the braces that hold the tank up. New fuel line hose and while the hose is off go to the fuel pump and unhook the rubber fuel line. Then get a air hose and blow the fuel lines out, you will be suprised what comes out. Also order new felt anti sqeak pads for the tank to sit on. But you probably all ready though of all this, take care.

I am replacing all the hoses and new pump and anti squeak but had not blown out lines. Thanks, may save me a carb filter.
