in Forum: C3 Fuel, Emission Control, and Exhaust Systems
Well guys since my last question about exhaust I have come across many differant exhauset options.
Thrust turbo
Thrust glasspack
Cherry Bomb turbos
Cherry Bomb glasspack
Borla Exhaust
Flow Master Series 40
At of those, and someonter ones I found, I picked the FLowmaster series 40, it sounded the best with the sound clips, and significant numbers on the charts.
Also my dad got me a FUEL PRESsURE GUAGE!!!! YAY~!!!!

I would stay away from anything with a glass pack. The change too much over time, and I don't personally care for the sound. Use one of the other choices.
I have a new set of Hooker Aero Chamber mufflers waiting for warm weather (about another 6 weeks or so and I can get really started on my car). They will go with the ceramic Hooker Headers, and true dual exhaust. When I get them on I'll let you know how they sound. I'm expecting good things.
Yes, it does help to balance the the system. Depending on the situation, it can help. In most cases it won't add a lot. And it would be a bit difficult to acomplish in a C3. You would have to connect it behind the trans.
The location of the H is important to the final effect. In the wrong place, it won't do you any good. So what is the right place. That depends on the engine, pipe size, driving conditions, etc. Just like tuning headers or pipes, it all makes a difference.
The length of the H pipe connecting the sides also makes a difference, tuning again. Too long and it won't really help at all.
So where? How long? That would take some research. Usually about where the headers would end, or slightly past is usually best.
If nothing else, it would change the sound a bit. Likely the sound would be a bit more mellow, and still maintain exhaust performance.
Personally, I don't think it's worth bothering with. Just a good tuned exhaust will do the job fine.
this Might help on making a decision on whether you would like the sound on the hookers

I also like the sounds of these two from flowtech.

I personally like a deeper tone and not so raspy

While I respect the sound of chambered exhaust, it's just too loud for me. The clips Matt put up are more to my taste, the low and non-raspy sound.
Although I have to say the sound of Captn Bill's car is great. He has a chambered system, but a bit different. He has a large chambered section under the center of the car, and a smaller chamber section where the original mufflers were located. Works very well. He got them from a custom mfg near Cleveland.
