I was once told that there are no dumb questions if you do'nt know the answer,so here goes. Is there anyone out there that knows where to locate an oil temp sending unit? I look at the oil pan,but I do'nt see anything that might be it. Maybe I am overlooking it. Also is there a way to test the  gauge to see if is bad? I know it is not necessary to have one, but I have one, so I would like to have it working.  Thanks,  Bill

Well...it should look like this...
  or this.....

I ain't 100% sure, but I think this thing should be located around the same place as the oil pressure sending unit....either down by the oil filter, or up on the top/rear of the block, behind the distributor.

For the '81s, if it had the digital radio tuner, the clock in the gauge cluster was replaced with an oil temp gauge, since the radio had a clock display in it....Thumbs Up

Vette(s): 1982 C3 Collectors Edition 44000 miles, sat in the sun most of its life, My wife purchased it for me for Father's Day in 2007 from her girlfriend that had it for 19 years. It is on the road again. I'm retired but it is now my daily driver.
I like the idea of having one it double checks the engine temp.  My Oil runs about the same temp as the car after it all get warmed up.  Never had to go looking for the sending unit yet but sure will keep the location in mind now.
