Lifetime MemberI have been restoring my car for 2 plus years now. I drove it for the first time the day before yesterday. Well, last night I tried to start it and it turned butwould not start. I was wondering what maybe the problem???? I know the fuel filter might be clogged. Could there be condensation in the gas???? It was a full tank. Should I empty the gas and if so how do I do that........

think you should get a rotary hand pump if you want to remove the gas from fuel tank. Its the easist and safe way. Make sure its (hand pump) made to safely pump gas. Mine has 2 - 5foot long hoses with pump in the middle, made of plastic, works good after it gets primed. I think its made by "black and decker". Fairly cheap maybe $20. Cant remember where I got it.Try a sears hardware store or go online to find one. Regular autoparts stores will have a real cheap siphon (around $5) Those never worked very well.

Use some quality carb cleaner, or some starting fluid, or a bit of gas down the carb. See if it will start. If it does it will stall right away again, then you know you have a fuel problem.
Loosen the line to the carb, attach a hose and run it to a container. Crank the engine and see if you get fuel. If so, the carb is indeed clogged up.
You may need to take the top of the carb off and clean it out. It may need a full rebuild if the gas had caused damage, as old gas will sometimes do. You may just need to free up the float, needle, and seat.
Is the carb a Quadrajet? If the filter gets put in backwards, there will be no fuel flow...

,you can't bring it back to life,I am not trying to sound like an a$$ hole here ,but that is what has got to be done 
.I use a 6 foot piece of garden hose,that I keep around the garage just for this purpose,one end goes in the tank the other end I suck on till the gas starts coming out the end ,then into a gas can .There is a trick to this ,that I have learned the hard way,in my short 55 years of life,Don't suck on the hose to long or you get a mouth full or face full of gas,use one of those hand pumps or power pumps if you can get one.the key is you have to have the end of the hose that is going into the container lower than the gas tank or at least the hieght of the bottom of the gas tank ,so it will continue to flow by gravity,have at least 4-5 gallon cans ready if your tank is completely full.once you get out all the gas you can ,put 5or 10 gallons of new gas back in,and then get a couple of bottles of DRY GAS we use it up north in the winter,check your local parts store it displaces absorbes water in the gas tank.Then take your gas line off the carb again attach a hose to it and pump a quart or two into an empty container,just to get that old gas out of the fuel lines.lastely clean out the carburater ,change your fuel filter,again,hook up the fuel line and "hopefully "start it up.I know it sounds like a lot of work,but its gotta be done .GOOD LUCK
