I have the same Holley Hi-Tek air cleaner. What i did was cut down the base, which of course is aluminum. I cut it down by about 3/8 of an inch. I needed a bit more clearence for engine torque. I checked clearance underneath by climbing under to check with a light. The car of course is up on jack stands. The air cleaner can be rotated 180 degrees to give a different angle......which will slant donward more to the front. I don't like the way it looks, that way but it allows for the slant of the hood. I got mine to sit stait on the engine. Jegs also sells a Barry Grant version of this air cleaner.....it's a flying wedge shape. http://www.jegs.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_10001_10002_313592_-1

That single set up looks like the same kind I had on my 1994 Chevy Truck that I ordered through LMC Truck Parts for $99.00. And as mentioned you can build your own with parts available at most auto parts suppliers. Here's a custom made set up a family friend has on his '64 Impala SS (383).

Aaron, just curious... what did the air cleaner look like on your 94 PU. I tried to look up at LMC, but couldn't find. Good pics of the custom. Made out of fiberglass I assume?
And Larry thanks for info on your air cleaner, also how did you trim 3/8" off the base?

Go to LMCtruck.com, under Chevrolet trucks click on 1988-98 Chevy truck parts. Then use the search box at the top, type in cold air intake. Page 101 will be at the top, click on it and the intake I had is at the top of the page with the blue filter. It was pretty good quality with a washable filter.

Thanks Aaron...found it. Price is reasonable. What kind of material is the part made of that fits over the carb. Plastic? I was looking maybe for something for my 73 GMC. These type of air cleaners are new to me. What direction do you point it. Straight ahead, to the side? Thanks again....

Yes the black part that goes over the carb is plastic, but it is pretty thick stuff. The direction of the filter was aimed to the passenger side pointed at were the original air box went into the fender. I looked for a picture of the engine with the intake on the truck, but I guess I didn't take one. It does come with the single stud set up if you have the double stud like my truck had and the set up has a bracket that holds the chrome tube in place by the exhaust manifold. I think it took longer to take the old intake off than putting the new one on. It looks good and is a100 bucks cheaper than a K&N set up.
LMC has pretty good stuff but you need to watch the prices as they can vary some.
