The question recently came up about stripped threads in the carb inlet fitting on a Q-Jet carb.
There was a specfic repair with an 0-ring that I used to use. I found it is not longer available. The company quit making them.
But I have found another type that will do the job. It is an oversize thread the will self tap when installed. You must be carefull not to get chips in the carb. You might want to remove it from the car first.
If it is not repairable they also have several center housing sections for replacement.
You can contact them and get parts at,
Automotive Electric Svc Inc
65 Glendale Ave
Akron OH 44308
330 535-9514
Tell them which Q-Jet you have.
These guys have been in Akron forever. If it involves carbs or electrical, they can handle. Rebuilds, repairs, parts, etc. Top notch outfit.
I haven't used them in years, but have had some starters, generators, alternators etc rebuilt by them, and have purchased some odd parts from them.
It's been a long time, as you know I do all my own work when I have the equipment and can get the parts. Which is almost all the time. When I was still wrenching full time, it was often more cost effective to send then a unit to be rebuilt than do it in house.
They also have the chromic acid if you want the gold color put back on the carb. I believe they are the only ones in the area that can do this. Looks very nice.
Good honest people.
