Hello, I have an L-48 w/the orig. Qud.Jet on it and I have a slite hesitation when I hit the excellorater pedal. It isn't much and it doesn't fall on it's face or anything but it is enough that it I know it's not right. It is also running a little rich. I am thinking maybe float problem and or seat may have a piece of dirt. Should I just think about a complete rebuild here or replace the float and filter and see what happens?

When I bought my vette I thought it was the fastest car I ever drove. Then I had the carb rebuilt. It improved the car 100%. The thing spins the tires into second with an automatic. I would say to rebuild it. There is probably alot of junk in it. Especially if you do not know when it was done last.

I had mine rebuilt several years ago. A rebuild kit and new float will cost about $20. I probably could have rebuilt it myself using the detailed instructions that come with the kit but I paid a friend $25 to do it for me. Took less than an hour. It was definitely worth it.

Thanks all. I will pick up a rebuild kit and the float and new filter tomorrow. I may even try the rebuild myself. Always wanted to do that. Never did a 4 brl before. I had a little 2 brl. I did 6 years ago. OK I'll let ya know how it goes. |wavey|

Before you go rebuilding, why not buy a can of Gumout carb and choke cleaner? It's amazing how a few shots of that stuff will take care of some minor problems. Follow the directions on the can and good luck |wavey|

Vette(s): 73 - 454 mofified with 9.25:1cr, Crane 272 cam, reworked valve train, Sean Murphy Q-Jet, 2400 stall, 3.55:1 gears and everything else new - what else.
Go get yourself the book "Rochester Carbs by Doug Roe"
It is in most speed shops or you can get it from most vette parts houses. More than worth the price for the help in Q-Jets.
