Vette(s): 1974 Roadster being restored now!
Hey everyone,

I have to replace the fuel line going from the tank to the fuel pump. There's a small crack somewhere along the way.

Anyone have any suggestions as to what fuel line I can use or is available?

Anyone replace this line before with the body still on the frame? How hard is it?

Thanks

Imran - 74

If your going to replace one you should do both the lines down the right side. I just did the job about two or three weeks ago. |cussing| I used steel and bought new clips and bolts. The old lines lasted 31 years being driven in all weather. The formed lines had to be distorted to get them in. Pay attention to where they are routed near the frame kick up. If you have a helper( I did not) and the bolts all comed out ( mine did not). I found that if I broke the line out of the clip the bolt was easy to remove. Thejob should take about 3 hours. I started at the kick back to the tank. Almost had to fold the lines to get them through the crossmember then it went fast. Good Luck. |thumb|

Did you have to take the body off the frame? Or detach it?

I did it with the body on you have to do some rebending but it can be done the hardest area was near the kick up where the trailing arm cross bolt goes through, If you have help it easier. |wavey|

Well, I have a roll of like 30 ft of fuel line sitting next to me, but I found a easier fix to the problem...

The leak on my fuel line was back near the fuel tank. There's a rubber hose that goes from the tank to the fuel line, which runs along the frame. However the fuel line bends upwards from the frame where the hose connects. The slight crack was right in the middle of bend. So all I did was cut the fuel line past the bend, flared the new tip, and replaced the short hose with one an inch or two longer. Voila!
