Hey all, hope to get some help here. Last year I pulled the engine out of my 79 L-82 and had it re-done. Bored it 30 over, new cam, pistons, and rockers. I got it all put back together and just cannot get it to idle clean. I replaced the existing carb with a new one (since its only 50 more bucks than a rebuld) and it runs the same way. I took it into a pretty reputable shop here in town and the guy could get it to run o.k. once it's warmed up but still not really nice. I'm wondering if it is a jetting/metering rod issue or something else. I did leave the stock fuel pump on there and now I think I might kick myself for that also. I haven't been out much at all with it this year and I'm starting to pull my hair out. This driving with one foot on the brake and one foot on the gas to keep it running is getting old. Somebody help!!!

what kind of cam are you running ?

with that same cam to get my car to run right I had to get my carb plate modified with demon's idle-eze feature.
the old way of doing this was to drill small holes in the throttle butterflies.

Now that I have searched for just an adaptor plate I'm wondering if I just go for a Demon setup. Did you use your existing intake or did you have to replace it?
I looked at what Jeg's had to offer and they looked like they would go on a spread bore. Also wondering how much additional hardware is needed...linkage and adapters and such.
If this all works out I'll have a new Q jet for sale cheap!!!!!!

i replaced it with a square bore intake..
I used an edelbrock rpm air-gap.. but you wont be able to use one of these with a stock hood
