It only took one time for me to learn as well. That was on the initial test drive before I bought it!

I do help my 8 year old daughter in and out though.

Our 74 will be having sidepipes installed too & my wife has been practicing getting out of the C5 as if it had pipes. |laugh| Where can you get the fiberglass covers & will they fit over the Hooker sidepipes?

Vette(s): 1971 T-top. I just had car shipped from my parents house in florida where it has sat for over 12 years..It is going to be a long project!
I spoke with jet hot today and they stated there is not a 2 coat process for the headers as you stated. The sterling coated headers which are brighter then ceramic but not quite like chrome is what they use on the side pipes. I ordered mine yesterday, I'll let you know what the look like when i get them.

btw--if chambered exhaust folks are going to make some mufflers for the side pipes, cant they just buy one from hooker and then copy it...it seems like a lot of trouble to make potential customers go through the process of sending one in to copy is a little much?? I would possible be interested in them as well..

have burned myself three times now, either I am really forgetful or it is starting to feel good.
Pipes will get very hot so be careful to swing legs out when leaving the car.
I have burned the front of my legs twice when I leaned in the window to retrieve a package and placed my shin up against the hot pipe, man that smarts no skin real close to the bone.

actually there is... its just not officially out yet..

here is what they told me in an email

I wouldn't recommend the Polar coating...it's just plain ugly. It hasn't been officially introduced yet, so it's quite experimental at this point. Not to mention it's ugly.

so its looks like this wont be the savior I thought it would be... but the polar coating does exist as I described in a previous post..

certainly, yet they are happy enough to sell their products unmodified, he is not in the business of making slip in mufflers for hooker pipes...

hell gladly sell you a pair of mufflers right now if you want to weld them in.

I am trying to convince him to make a prototype to fit in the hookers as a slip in.

if he could get a detailed schematic of the muffler that would be great..

I have been unable to find a schematic.

so i thought about asking for a junk muffler that he could use as a template.

I got the pipes from PAW in California. In the catalog is the type muffler they sell. That is the one I got. The sound is great. I have a cam that excentuates the pipes perfectly. I do not have the catalog here to tell you what kind they are. I might take them out this weekend and see how straight pipes sound.

A warning about the hookers: getting on a few of the header bolts is very tricky and tight I replaced the 6 point bolts for hex head ones and ground them down on my grinder. I am looking for a different alternative so if anyone has any ideas let me know. I can post some pictures if you want.

Scott

I just recieved a reply from Todd that says

Ok, then you'd like to have a triple coat exterior, and single inside.
> I'd rather not do double inside because you've got to have enough room
> to slide those mufflers in.

and

No, we can do a triple coat in the Sterling.
