Topic: sidepipe care
in Forum: C3 Fuel, Emission Control, and Exhaust Systems

Just ordered a pair of hooker sidemount headers and sidetubes, silver Jet Hot coating...lookin to find out how to care for them as far as washing/waxing the car and such...standard care.
also...my girlfriend's parents live down a 5 mile long dirt/gravel road...and when I go to visit her, I'll be staying at their place...is there a way to wrap the pipes so they'll stay safe...or no?

mudflaps are an idea, any suggestions on how to do that?
I was thinking maybe I could wrap them in towels up to the mouth of the pipes...if the heat wouldn't cause a huge problem.

there is really no room to wrap anything around the pipes. To be honest with you I think your overreacting to the problem. If you stop and think about it, your going to be running over stones on the highway going 65- 75- + miles an hour, as compared to rolling down a gravel road, your really not going to be kicking up stones that will do any damage. It's the speed of the tire that sends things flying and thats where the damage is done. Put the pipes on and enjoy the sound and the ride, you can't be worrying about what happens to the bottom of the pipes, or you'll never relax while your driving.

If you want to put them on temporarily, DUCT TAPE is your friend. Then you will need the BUG & TAR remover when you take the tape off.
