Vette(s): 1970 stingray, t-top, mulsanne blue with black interior, 406 ci with 444 hp, racing suspension, hooker headers/sidepipes - SOLD :(
I've been thinkin about putting a set of Hooker sidepipes on the stingray...and I now have the money to do it.  so my questions are...a), what kind of care do chrome sidepipes require...there's an automatic car wash in town that's insanely expensive, but I take the vette there all the time because they do a wonderful job...is something like that still okay?  also, any truth that backflow rumor?  that not enough backpressure will negatively affect torque?  oh yea, and any idea why my car smells like gasoline a lot?  it just the fact that I have a four barrel carb and a throttle that's rarely more than a half-inch off the floor of the car?  or is it somethin else...

chrome has a tendency to turn blue with extensive use, I have heard that the new ceramic coated pipes have a chrome like shine and do not discolor or rust like chrome will. Check out Jet hot coatings talk to those guys about long lasting headers and sidepipes. They are pricey though but may be worth the extra cash for the long term durability.

I got mine from Jet Hot.  They look really good and were cheaper than the chrome and stainless versions of the Hooker Header sidepipes.

I have the Hookers, they look and sound great. Be careful, they get unbelievably hot. I have about 1/2 dozen scars to prove it.

Vette(s): 1971 T-top. I just had car shipped from my parents house in florida where it has sat for over 12 years..It is going to be a long project!
I have a set from Jet Hot coating, I have not put them on yet but they look great.  However, I think I changed my mind again and am probable going to sell them and go with regular chambered exhaust out the back.  I will let you know soon...my rush to get them might end up being someone elses savings!!

the jet-hot pipes are better about this..  and ive been told if you triple coat the side tubes (extra 88$) that they wont burn your legs

seems to me that Jet Hot just sells the Hooker, and other (hedman, flowtech, etc) products, but with their coating.  anyone wanna clear this up for me?  also...those of you  with the Jet Hots...got pictures you can show me?  I looked at the Hooker ceramic coated pipes on Summit Racing and they did not look NEAR as impressive as the chrome, not even close.
