I'm installing a new carb (from the original qjet) and the throttle cable is about 1 inch too long.

Can this be shortened?

The cable itself can't be shortened, but you should be able to move/change the bracket. What carb are you using? You can get "universal" type brackets @ parts stores. |hammer| |wavey|

I've looked around at other brackets, but none would move the cable enough.

I've tried a holley and demon, both are the same and my pedal is not bent and I can't move the bracket at all.

I've heard a bubba fix would be to put a few split shot fishing weights on the cable by the pedal to change the contact point - anything else?

Look at Summit at the edelbrock throttle cable brackets and see if you like them. I'm useing a chrome one.

That will take some length out of the inner cable, but then you wouldn't have enough travel left to take the carb to full throttle (open). Smoke-um is right about the Edelbrock set-up. I've installed them on several projects, and they work well. Sometimes it takes a while to figure out just the right set-up, but in the end, it works out quite well. |thumb| |thumb| |wavey|

I concur..

and make sure you adjust the cable to the pedal properly.. ie.. have someone hold the gas pedal to the floor.. hold the carb at WOT.. then adjust the cable back far enough so it barely reaches the carb.. connect it.. make sure its still tight.. then tighten the cable

you may already know this.. but ive seen way too many cars where floored is 1/2 throttle and there is a ton of play in the pedal so I thought I would share this info..

Thanks, I'll see what other brackets I can find. |thumb|
