Need some info. Changing from single exhaust to duals and no cat on my 1980 L82. Can you please provide all the modifications needed to complete the installion of headers and true dual exhaust. From previous e-mails I heard MidAmerica has the pipes and Jegs or Summit has the headers. I'm set on flowmaster 40's.
Thanks for your help......

As long as you have the holes in the frame for the exhaust, the 74 system will probably fit with no problem. You will need to add the hangers for the left side.
I don't remember guys help me out. Did all C3s have the holes in the frame, or was there a year they stopped?

In 80 or 81 they did away with the 2 holes in the crossmember. Went with a single hump on the passenger side. Mid America does sell a system that utilizes the single hump by moving the drivers side pipe over to the pass. side. Check if you have the holes or the hump. Mike
MidAmerica sell the kit for 80-82's. I also have headers, so I had to do a few mods, but it wasn't that hard. The flowmaster deltaflow 40's are a good choice also. This sounds like the same set up I have. You'll be very happy with it.

I have the Mid America true duals on my 81 with chrome short headers and series 40 flowmasters ,sounds great and my engine can finally breath. Not sure how much HP it added. But everything went together rather easily.I have classic tags so I do not need emissions.

Check these guys out on Ebay:

They made an aluminized system for my 79 with flowmasters - tips and 90 degree turns welded on the mufflers. They custom bend to fit your headers as well. Just be sure to tell them what headers you have and where the collectors end - they vary from manufacturer. It was shipped to my door for $290 and was literally a bolt on fit.
You'll have to get a 79 or ealier crossmember that has 2 holes. Also, there is a u shaped front exhaust bracket that bolts on with the tranny mount bolts in place of the old single bracket. Make sure you get the 2 1/2" HP application. $20 from Arts Corvette parts. Great guys to deal with also.
Good luck

Just had true duals aded to my 81 automatic, i actually went to a custom muffler shop and had them made from scratch 2.5 " pipe all the way back to the mufflers with no cat conv, I know for sure the 81 does not have holes in the frame, everything is moved over to the passenger side of the car, it took these guys 2 and half hours to bend this pipe but they did an excellent job for 180.00 bucks and it looks stock, I need to replace the mufflers but that will have to wait, it sounds awsome I cant hardly keep from holding it in gear and shifting it manually just to hear it...they also said I really didnt need a crosover pipe, the 81 also came stock with headers so I didnt realy see the need to replace them either... just not sure what kinda HP I have netted??? any guesses??
