I checked the archives and couldn't find any postings. has anybody put true duals on a car with an automatic tranny? they are available thru the catalog houses. do they fit thru the hole in the tranny cross member on the driver side? it looks like the linkage would be in the way? any help is appreciated.
Hank

but you had to bend them yourself? they weren't bent to go around the linkage?

i didnt do any real bending.. i think i had to slightly curve one of the pipes..

just put it in a bench vise and gave it a little tug

I have true duals on my '78 L82 automatic. I bought the whole system from Corvette Central. It went on with no problems at all.

I'm going to put true dual on my 75 with an automatic. The 74 exhaust for an automatic fits it perfectly. Your may be a bit different. I think it will fit all the way to 82 with slight modification. I could be wrong.

I put an Allen's system on my 79 - L-82. It is an early 79, so the crossmember has the hole on the drivers side to accept the pipe.
If you have trouble lining up the rear mufflers, there is a 7/16" threaded hole in the frame almost directly above where the exhaust pipe enters the muffler on the front side. You can hang a generic hanger there to support that area, and keep the exhaust system up.
Putting true duals on is not NCRS specs, so putting these additional hangers won't matter.
I can send pictures of this hanger addition if anyone wants to see. vinterrv@aol.com. |saluteflag| |cool|
