Wondering if anyone out there has a FLARING TOOL SET that they are willing to lend out for a few days? I would pay shipping both ways for the privilege.
I need to cut, bend, and flare a custom steel gas line to the carb (to replace the rubber line).
I also have a carb question. Does the addition of headers and sidepipes to an otherwise stock LS5 require any adjustments to the carb (Holley)?

Hey Mike, have you looked into renting the tools? You may be able to rent from autoparts stores or tool rental places, just a thought.
As far as the carb goes you should be OK with it as is. If anything you may have to play with the idle or the mixture screws a hair, but I don't think so.
Hows it coming so far?

Don -- Thanks. I'll give O'Reilly's a shot first.
Dave -- Once I get the final caliper where it will bleed and the rear end aligned, then we're on the road. Had a real bad case of "while I'm at it - itis!!!" New C5 seats, new Hookers and sidepipes with copper gaskets, new rear end (bushings, u-joints, mono spring, smart struts, shocks, and T/As). Cleaner 'n a whistle underneath.
"While I was at it" (and Penny wasn't going anywhere), I replaced the plugs with Accel shorties and added Tayler wires and custom looms. Covered the wiring, replaced some rubber hoses, repainted several components, added new belts, valve cover gaskets and SS bolts, pulled the A/C out (whew!!!) -- just about anything that didn't move.

Now I'm more than ready to rumble. Just a little longer. Sure sounds sweet! Our cars might be brothers with those classy pipes.

You should be otay on the carb for now, but you may find that you can bump the jets up a couple of numbers once you get everything dialed in. Headers free up the exhaust side, and can lean out the fuel mixture at times. Keep an eye on your sparkle plugs for a while, and make sure they're not running bright white. If they are, then go up a couple of notches on the jets(like, from #76s to 78s).
You might also find that you need to adjust the idle mixture screws a little, to get a decent idle with the headers...
btw...you can buy the steel line from the fuel pump to the carb for aboot $20 or less...pre-bent...no-muss-no-fuss! I opted to do that rather than fight with bending one myself on the '74...I'm lazy, don't-cha-know?

Won't the pre-formed line eliminate the in-line filter? I was hoping to retain an in-line filter.
