Alrigth guys I set the timing on my 75 vette witht he stock quadrajet today... Everything was going perfect till I went to plug the vacuum advance back in... When I did the rpm's went up a decent amount and there is constant vacuum at idle on the line... I have a straight line run from the vacuum advance on the distributor to the port on the front top left of the carb if you are looking at it from the front is this the right spot or shoudl I move it?

Dante, this may not help on your car if it doesn't have all of the factory equipment, but, take a look anyway...it might help some.
In this pic, the dist. gets it's vacuum from the TCS(Transmission Controlled Spark) solenoid, which in turn gets vac. from the fitting on the pass. side of the carb,(ID'd in blue) under the choke pull-off. If your car doesn't have any of the "smog" equipment, then you would want to do it differently. The dist. should have ported vacuum...meaning it only gets vacuum above idle speed. In this case, you could run the vac. line to the lower, front fitting on the carb, ID'd in the pic in green as "Lower Fitting". That should be ported vacuum...Be sure to thumb thru all of the pics to get a good indication of what goes where...
