Vette(s): 1975 Coupe, owned since October 2005. Stock apart from minor engine mods, cam, carb and headers to dual exhaust.
After stripping down the q jet, a 1975 7054222 I found I had a set of 46K primary metering rods but have been told these may be the wrong rods. Can any one tell me what rods I should have and where I can find this info online.

TIA.

Why do you, or someone else think they are the wrong rods?
Does the carb work ok? If not, what "sympthoms" are you having, that would relate to it?
I have a carb kit parts book...I'll see if I can find out what would be "normal" for the carb # you have. Problem is, what works on a Caprice, may not be the same as what would in a Vette, or a pick-em-up-twuck. Many variables, here...

Q-puke primary metering rods all have the same diameter on the power, or WOT portion, at the bottom of the rod.
The part throttle varies with the mid/upper size of the rod.
If you change the rod only, it will only make a difference in the part throttle mixture. If you change the jet, you will change the mixture throughout the RPM range.

Here is a CHART that gives the available jets/metering rods for da Quadrapuke.(original GM #s)
Typically, the last 2 #s of the part # are on the rods. Hope this helps some... Adams' Apple2006-09-24 15:08:39

Some guy on another forum said they should be 46B rods in a 75 Q jet instead of 46K, I just wanted to make sure.

Couldnt tell you if the carb works or not, it was shipped in a box after my Vette arrived, hence the reason for me stripping it down ready for rebuild before putting back on car.

Was told the 46k and 46b rods were of different length which would be a major issue if I got it wrong.

Will be bumping up the jet size to 75 instead of the 72 standard...although there was #71 jets installed!
