[QUOTE=dskopp]MICKI !! I guess I better splain to her. A PROM is a Programable Read Only Chip that is part of a Vette like mine that has a ECM : Electronic Control Modual. The PROM monitors and controls about 8 different functions of the engine to include but not limited too the carb and emission controls features. Oh, now I feel good that I can explain something to Micki!!! love ya !!

Thanks Dan! My car is older, no wonder I didn't know anything about a PROM Chip..........whew!........that's one less "thing" I have to worry about on my C3.....
.......and I learned something new.

An actual blank PROM is about $15. DO you have a way of having it programmed? I have a friend that installs and programs fuel injection systems, he just put a tuned port system on mine, and can get a chip from him for you. Let me see if he can put the stock program on it for you. You said 82 right? I will ask him today.

dans1yy07, My friend business is Stump Performance out of Panama City, Fl. Talked to him today and he said that the 82 had a wierd chip in it but he could probably take care of you for about $50 programmed and all. He is going to look for a chip tomorrow. He said he hasn't ever heard of just the chip failing and was wondering if your sure the whole computer hasn't failed. Let me know as I see him about every day. This guy is good, he just finish putting twin turbo on a brand new ZO6 and burnt a chip especially for the car. Its a monster now.
