This may sound crazy to some here on the forum but i am thinking maybe a 2nd vette is what i need.
Here is where i am at. I currently have a 1974 T-Top coupe. it has a 350 that i just finished and it looks great in the engine compartment. I would guess it has around 300 - 350 hp with the modifications that were done. I am having a set of flow master mufflers put on Wednesday morning to help the sound. The interior is very nice and the paint is shiney and decent. the body is decent as well and it shows good when someone looks at it. So ...... my next move was going to be to replace the 400 trans with a 200r4 or a 700r4 trans. then a complete strip down paint job and it should be a very very nice car. I figured with the trans and paint i would spend between 6 and 8 grand.
Now this past weekend i was just surfing around and I have found 4 or 5 70 - 72 vettes that can probably be bought for that same money. So should I think about letting the 74 the way it is and invest in another chrome bumper vette. I know what my wife thinks but i think a 2nd one would be a better investment and my dream has always been a chrome bumper vent anyway.
Ok, now let me hear your thoughts.
Thanks Rodney

Rodney if you can get a decent CB car for sure do it. Only thing I'd be carefull of is the "decent" part. You can put way to much money in trying to restore an old vette. Looks like you are the perfectioist type guy (that's a good thing) So shop wisely and do lots of homework.

You can never have enough vettes! I also want a CB car but decided to save and buy one pretty much already done. Or just wait for Harry'sWinkLOL

Vette(s): 1976 Stingray matching numbers. Stock 350 rebuilt, comp cam, roller rockers, push rods, 2.02 valves, +.30 flat tops, frontend & suspension rebuilt Dec 08. Interior from firewall 90% July. New exhaust, Collector plates, Paint will have to wait...& wait.
Another perspective; I bought my 76 a couple years ago "because" I bought a green 74 in 75 and always wanted another one after I sold it a year later, but life got in the way. I really like the "chromies" but my dream is to get into a "59/60" one day, don"t see that day in the near future. I bought this 76, I wish to be able to drive where ever and whenever so ended up rebuilding from inside out, to date $27000. spent, no paint yet. If I would have bought my dream car to start with I may have been better off, who knows. I am very happy with my 76 but still would like my dream car one day. I love my "76" and the time I have put into it. It really comes down to "What is your dream vette" and what do you want to do with it? Two would be great if they do what you want them to do, but maybe one that turns your crank will work just fine:):):)
Had to reply, sorry, and good luck, both ways are better than none.Thumbs Up
Good Luck,
Eric...

The more the merrier!!
I have to wonder tho, about finding a "decent" chromie for $6-8000...they may be out there, but...Idaknow. They also might need another $6000 to make them drivable. Not trying to rain on da parade, just saying caution is needed. If you can find a decent, drivable Chromie for that money that makes you smile, I'd say you would be ready for the "Two or More" club!

Ok I'll get to the point....

2 Corvettes are great....BUT 3 is honestly one too many...and 4 is 2 too many.. HOWEVER  I have FIVE .and you can do the Math...

I only drive them about 2000 miles a year and I have to work to put that much mileage on each of them...

I should sell at least 2 of them BUT darnit I'm emotionally attached to the cars... My 68 Chevelle SS 396 was sold 4 years ago after I was offered more then I could refuse for the car (which was not for sale)  BUT I still regret selling the car even at the price I sold it for....
