Vette(s): 1978 Silver Anniversary L82 4spd (M21) Red Leather. Pace Car is in the hands of a new caretaker.
As long as it's 2 Corvettes and not 2 woman everybody should be happy and it will keep you out of trouble.  Big smile  Please don't think that's the reason I have 2.
2 is nice but I could do just fine with one. If the right money came along I could part with the Pace Car all though I can't see it in todays market. Then I would just start looking for something else.LOL

Just keep in mind, money enough to care for and restore more than one car isn't easy to come by Unhappy, but it sure is a lot of fun Wink.

I agree with both statements. Herbert Hoover promised to put a chicken in every pot and a car in every garage. It seems to me that president Obama wants to take our chicken and car and give them to someone else. What good is a pot or a garage if you don't have anything to put in either? Angry

Adam, your right about finding one in good shape. The one i hope to look at has the motor torn apart, and the paint has been stripped so right away i would look at spending between 6 and 10 grand to make it shine and have decent chrome on it. Then comes the unknown. what about the tranny, rear, moldings. It never ends. I have been beating myself up should I do a restore and sell my 74 or try to keep both. Maybe I should just keep spending on the 74 and not worry about what the resale value will be someday. I actually have taken a real like ins to my 74! Just so hard to make decisions! but i appreciate everyone trying to help. I will keep you informed on where it goes from here!

Vette(s): 1981 - 59 Beige over Cinnebar leather. Edlebrock top end, 2200 stall w/shift kit, 3:55s, Mufflex maniback exhaust, nice stereo, 16 in AREs w/BFGs
Me, I'd get the 74 in the cond you want.  Theres nothing worse than 2 money pits under 1 roof.  Neither would get done.  As we all know theres no such thing as a cheap Vette especially a CB or earlier..

Vette(s): Sold them Both
Personally?  I have two project 69's, and I have found that I only have enough time and money to work on one.  So I set my sights on finishing one, before i jump into the second.  It pains me to think of the money that I have spent so far.  Being that as i continue on thru the first project (coupe), There is always some new little discovery that has to be overhauled.  The list is never ending.  And then again, as I am out there trudging thru the first one I get this severe itch, right in that spot that I can't quite reach, to peel off a little time to get rolling on the convertible.  It is at that point that I have to remind myself that finishing one car, and being presentable and drivable, would make the second car much more enjoyable to work on.  There are some screaming hot deals out there right now, for cars that have been started by someone, to which the economy has put a major damper on the rebuild funds.  I stumble across them all the time. Having to stop myself before I buy a third.....YIKES

If it were me?  I would alot my funds to finish the first car.  Keeping in mind that a sleeper may just be out there calling my name with a FOR SALE sign in the window.  But atleast you will be out enjoying a finished ride, before you start busting your knuckles on a second.

An uncle of mine used to say, "Before I die, I want one of everthing, and two of those that I love the most."......The Problem is, that you can only give TLC to one thing at a time..............

That is just my opinion, and in some circles, that does not amount to much.

Vette(s): 1970 T-Top350/350hp numbers matching 4 speed. It's a mess and 1970 Convertible 4 speed.
Well I have 2 CB and I can say from experience spend the money on a car that is already done. It will save you money in the long run.

Vette(s): 1977 Coupe (White), 2006 Convertible (Victory Red). NCM Life Member #2221.
I have two as well...the '82 and the '06 vert.

Now, while the '06 provides comfort on long trips it lacks the C3 lines that garners more compliments than the '06 ever will...given the current times and looks of Corvettes overall. But, its still a 'Vette and gets its share of compliments as well.

With that being said, keeping the '82 has doubled the money I've invested in it since buying it four years ago for $11,500. On the other end of the comfort spectrum, the '82 does not have that, but as mentioned above, it does bring in more compliments. I can get a good 3 or 4 hours out of a steady drive with the '82, but when I step out of it after that amount of time, I'm sorta, kinda, having to stretch things out for a bit longer than with other vehicles I/we own. Confused

On the '82, there is new paint, new wheels, new t-tops, new interior, new exhaust and dozens of mechanical replacements and fixes...and it puts the cost/value somewhere around 20 - 25K. The car needed some of the mechanical fixes, but the cosmetics were all my choices. The car hardly needed anything when I bought it, but I 'needed' the car to be all 'me'. Some of you might know this 'feeling' of making a car a part of your being. Smile

All in all...I've given myself, and the wife, a great choice of cars to use, depending on the venue and how long it takes to get there. I see the value of having of two Corvettes mostly for that reason. Besides, both of them are paid for...which makes for better 'me' feelings!! LOL
