I have got a friend with a number matching 1968 427. But the frame (chassis) is rusted out beyond repair. He is wanting to keep it as original as he can, and has found a 1972 with a good chassis to put his 68 body onto.
Question is, will it work, Does the 1972 have the same frame, chassis, to interchange with a 1972, without a lot of modification and keep it much like the original of the 1968?
I don't want him to make a grave mistake in purchasing this without some knowledge that it will work.
Any help or suggestions!

Afaik, it should work. There MAY be some minor differences in bumper mounting holes front/rear, but not 100% sure. As far as the body bolting on, it should bolt right up.....
The only major issue is to be sure the replacement frame had the same type transmission....auto or 4 speed. The 4 speed trans crossmembers are welded to the frame, but the automatic trans crossmembers are bolted on. If the '68 is an automatic, he'll need to replace the frame with an automatic frame.....there's NO way to remove/install the auto trans with the welded crossmember. However, if the '68 is a standard trans, and the replacement frame is from an automatic, that's a bonus....makes it MUCH easier to remove/replace the trans.
