Hi,
I bought a 73 coupe in pieces for my son and I to restore. I've been trying to find out what we really bought! lol.
Maybe you can help. Here is what I've found
Owner said it was all original and it looks to be.
Vin: 1Z37t3s (followed by production sequence)
This tells me it was built in 73 and should have an L82
Engine: 3956618
From what I have found this would be an engine from 1969?
It also has TO618HC on the front of the block - I can't find a reference for this anywhere
The plate by the shifter says 300hp with 10.25.1 Comp Ratio
Intake Manifold: 3919803
Bell housing: 3899021
Transmission: 335308 and P3CO6A and 13S417616
P tells me it's a Munci. Also it has 7 bolts on inspection plate and cast AL
Also the numbers match the VIN
Rear End: 3899143
Sticker says use only limited slip fluid. I've not researched this so not sure what ratio is etc.

Casting # 3956618 was used on '68-'69 302/327/350 engines.
T0618HC- T=Tonawanda engine, 06=June, 18=day
Intake casting #3919803 was used on '67-'68 327/350 engines.
Are you sure that the bell housing # is 3899021 and not 3899621?
The rear end code should be stamped on the bottom of the differential between the spring plate and the bracket that hold the strut rods.
AA=3.55
AB=3.70
AC=4.11
AW=3.08
AX=3.36
LR=3.36
Can you pull a Valve cover off and see what the casting #'s are?
Hey Robb, welcome to C3VR, glad to have another '73 on the site. You're also relatively close by, I live in Gig Harbor, just up and around the corner from Kent.
Here's a little more break down on your tranny:
P = Muncie 4 speed
3 = 1973 production year
C06 = March 6th production date
A = M20 - std. wide ratio 4 speed
One of the best sources for Muncie info I found @ members.tripod.com/camaro_obsession/muncie.htm
Post some pics when you get a chance, good luck with the car.

Well CRAP! I just put all this info in a post, and it disappeared!!

Anyway...John gave the trans info that I tried to post, but to expand on the engine code, HC, it's for a '69, 250hp, 2bbl, manual trans, A/F/X car(A=Chevelle/GTO/Cutlass F=Camaro/Fireturd X= Nova). NOT the original engine for the car.
The data plate has also been changed. The '73 L82 was 250hp/285ft/lbs, 9.0cr.
The trans stamp shows it to be a March 6th build, which is perfect for the body build date, which should be March 14th '73. Check your TRIM TAG for the build date to verify.

The 1973 and 1974 versions did.
