OK, I guess I am always gonna have questions...first is, I have a 70 vert, with a jury rigged windshield washer (electric pump) if gonna fix correctly, should I have a 3 port washer pump mounted to the windshield washer motor, or the more expensive 5 port?...and if the 5 port, where do the headlight washers go? also I do not have a passenger side mirror..am I suppossed to or was this an option? Thanks Eric M.

well to answer your question correctly I am going to try. The 70 came with the 5 port, sorry, I bought a new one on ebay awhile back for 300.00 (good deal), there is a person out there that rebuilds them for that price. I have not installed mine yet. The headlight washers, not really clear on the question. The passenger side was not equiped with an outside mirror, at least mine has never had one. happy hunting and ask away.

I believe the passenger side mirror was not optioned until 77 on the C3s.

Hello, Thanks for the info, I was thinking I needed the 5 port and was gonna have to lay out more$$$, and I know my question on headlight washers was a little vague, so I'll try again. With the 5 port I understand there is provision for headlight washers (small jets) I would think they go on the plastic cowl that surounds the lights themselves...My "cowls" do not seam to have any holes for those little "jets" to fit into...maybe my headlight cowls are replacements, or maybe I am missunderstanding where the jets go or how they work ...anybody have a picture....probably would help me out the most....just want to get it right the first time (if possible) Thanks everyone!!

In 74 (and beyond, I think; maybe even before), a passenger side mirror was like the luggage rack - it was a "dealer installed" option, meaning you could order one to have your dealer install, so technically, it would be correct. If your car doesn't have one, likely, it never did. I would sure like to have one, but I just don't think I could bring myself to drill holes in my car!!

The headlight washers require the 5-port pump. If your car doesn't have the "squirters" on the doors, then you wouldn't need the 5-port pump, unless you want to install the headlight washer system. That's a lot of work for something that doesn't work very well to start with, imo.
The pass side mirror was not an option from the factory until '77, but you could get a dealer installed one as an accessory, as stated above...

Hi Adam, Does that mean the "headlight washer" was an option for a 1970 vert and not all had them? if thats the deal then I guess I would be happy with the cheaper 3 port, however if all 1970's had the 5 port then I guess I'll spend the extra $$ on it. I would like to make it as "correct" as possible, but, I am trying to be a realist also as The paint is not original anyway so I can only be persueded to spend "so much". Thanks for all your help!

The '70 would have had the washers as standard equipment. I think they were standard equipment until they were completely done away with, in '71-'72.

Engine size had nothing to do with it. It has to do with the headlight washer system. They required the 5-port pumps.
