Comming to work this morning,5:00am.I got pulled over for going 67 in a 45 on a road that looks just like an expressway but isn't.Anyway I'm the only one out right then, it's on an island in the country(why it's 45 I can't tell you)anyway a cop was at one of the few roads that intersects with the highway.I go past him and slow down.Sure enough he pulls me.Asks for the regular stuff proof of ins, ect. He told me how fast I was going but he couldn't get a "Lock" on me so he told me to slow down and I said I would.I was in my 82CE.Do you think it had anything to do with the fibreglass body?WinkClose one.I can;t remember when I got my last ticket but it's got to be over 20 25 yrs.

I doubt if the fiberglass body had much or anything to do with it. A Vette still has plenty of metal in it.

More likely it was the small cross section of the car and any radar waves that may have simply reflected in direction other than directly back at the radar gun. It's like stealth technology the military uses where the shape diffuses radar beams and scatters it instead of a direct reflection.

It could have simply been the officer screwed up with his equipment. Since the Vette has such a small front profile, he may not have been able to lock on without getting a reflection from adjacent objects.

Regardless...you lucked out so don't try and analyze it too much.

I got one like that too about 7 years ago............I had to get a Lawyer.  I wasn't even going that fast, it was more like 60 in a 35.  When I asked that cop if I could see what speed his radar picked up, he said he erased it and he didn't have to show me. Angry

Well, it was a 2 lane road and I was going south and a cop was going north.  I was speeding, like 60 in a 35 or 45 (something like that).  I was like...."OOOOOPS!".....a cop.  Looked in my rear view mirror and sure enough, he's turning around and comin' after me.  He DID NOT POINT A RADAR GUN AT my car when he passed me going north, that's why I asked him to show me the speed I was going on his radar gun.  He said that his radar showed me going 77 in a 35 or 45.  What a lier!Angry  It pissed him off when I asked, I could tell.  Then he said that he erased it and even if he still had the speed on his radar gun, he did NOT HAVE TO SHOW ME.

I think, not sure, but if you ask to see the radar speed, they have to show you.  I know for sure that he NEVER pointed a radar gun at my car. Angry

I don't know about Texas, but in NY, they don't even need the radar. The cops are supposedly trained to judge the speed of cars and if the cop asks you why you were going 77 mph in a 35 mph zone, the judge is going to believe the cop.
I had a lawyer friend send letters to the prosecutor for the town and the town judge to get it reduced.
