Supposedly, the Canadian DMV(or the equivalent thereof), keeps records of every vehicle sold there. I've heard that from more than one source. If it was sold new to/by a dealer in Canadia, they should have that record.
They probably wouldn't have any other info than that. If the original selling dealer is still in business, they night still have records, but that's a long shot, unfortunately.

We do have a number of members in Canada.
You can try sending a PM to a couple of the active ones.

There are many threads posts here about retreiving the build sheet from your car's gas tank. My car was not a Canadian car, but the build sheet did show me the dealer the car was originally shipped to. If you can find your build sheet, you might be able to determine where it started.
I wanted a Corvette my whole life, but I never dreamed of all the wonderful people I would meet because of it!

Correct. The Canadian government has a record of vehicles inported there. Not sure when the records keeping began, but it was underway in the 70s. My advice would be to contact your local government who could, in turn, put you in touch with the folks who keep the records.

Hummm..... good stuff here. I would look at both the DMV and the Customs (import/export) agency. When I imported my Vette from FL to Canada; I first had to "export" it from the USA, releasing GM from any recall. Then I had to import it to Canada (this is where they collect the Federal taxes).
Now, I have not done it yet, but if I want to legally drive the car around, I now have to register it with the DMV (and pay for the Provincial taxes, first registration and tag).
So you see, the US has a trace that my car is no longer in the US, Canada has a trace that the car is in Canada, but I don't have a tag and if I move, they wouldn't know; since I don't have a tag (not registered). So the Canadian Customs could tell you that my VIN is in Canada, but not the DMV.
Good luck!
