I took Bob's offer up who lives near me, went and checked out his 69. Great car and excellent tool to use as a comparison. Since my original post my wife has come full circle. She's now saying she only wants me to get a convetible. Hmm....ok. There is a local car a mechanic told me about. The following work has been done: New top, tires, SS brakes and lines, carb, suspension front and rear, vacume work with the headlights. He claims everything works. the interior is black with red exterior, the paint is good but has some small cracks. I plan to repaint with Ontario Orange anyway. The engine is a 350 /350 4 speed. No A/C, ps or pb. The only factory option is a rear deck keyed alarm (that doesn't work) He's asking 18k. I'm meeting him Sunday to look at the car does price and equip sound correct?

Vette(s): 1969 convertible L71 427/435 4-speed black interior
That's not really out of line if it's in the shape advertised. For the money it doesn't have many options that could justify that price. You can also look at that as also being less to go wrong.

As a point of comparison, one of our members here needs to sell his '68 convertible with rebuilt 427, headers, sidepipes and 4-speed for $18k. It's here in Maryland about twenty miles from me. If you or anyone else here is interested in that, I could could go look at it for you.

I also think your wife is right...get a covertible.
