years ago (74) I had a buddy who bought a LS6 coupe corvette (5800CDN). Now he had it for a year and sold it(6000CDN). He wouldn't sell it to me in case something went wrong. I have the change of buying it today from the same person that bought it from my buddy. Question is what is this car now worth. They only built 144 of the LS6's and this car is a survivor in mint shape. Its got 46k and all original. I have been told that it's worth it's weight in gold. I haven't seen more that 2 in twenty years.

What are you waiting for,?you should already be at the mans house handing him your check.even if its not a special vette, its still a good price, you don't always get a second chance.

Go for it... don't buy it if its a junker... but if its even half way decent, get it!!! i just paid a rediculous 15,000.... american.... for my 71 l48, and i don't regret it. Granted it was in gorgous shape, but still, you'r getting a rarer car for less than a 1/3 the price.... lol... do it man!!

What's he asking for it? All I see in your post is what your friend paid and then what the next owner paid 20 years ago. I just looked in the NADA Appraisal Guide and if this car is a mint survivor in great condition it could be worth as much as $35,000+.
LOL... maybe i read it wrong. I thought he was trying to sell it for 6000cnd right now. If so, jump on it, its a great deal from what i know, but i'm new to the scene.

I hope the owner doesn't read this board. He could probably ask US$1.00 per mile or km, whichever it is.

Vette(s): 1971 LS6 M22 3:70 coupe, 1971 LS5 M20 3:08 coupe, 1970 LS5 M21 3:36 coupe, 1970 LS5 M21 3:70 coupe, 1970 LS5 M20 3:08 coupe.
I have just recently looked and inquired about 3 '71 LS6 corvettes. Two are listed at $75,000 and one at $59,000. I have personally seen all 3 cars. Documentation plays a MAJOR role in price. One car is Brands Hatch green, M22, 4:11 ratio and has original "build sheet off of tank". The next car is Nevada silver, M21, 3:36 ratio and has original protecto plate attached to warranty pamphlet. The last car is Warbonnet yellow, M22, 3:70 ratio and has original window sticker and other paperwork. My LS6 is Classic white, Red vinyl interior, M22, 3:70 ratio with original window sticker, protecto plate w/pamphlet, dealers sales invoice, build sheet, etc... it was listed at $89,000. I have seen 3 others listed in Hemmings over this last year at $85,000, $95,000 & $65,000, they were in New Jersey, Kentucky & Canada. We do not currently have concrete proof of total number produced. Black book says 188 with an additional 12 ordered in "racing trim". Vette Vues fact book says 196. NCRS registry in 2001 had 69 cars listed as 'real ones'. The late Hans Norberg started a survey of these cars and guesstimated approximately 34-36 cars with M40 and approximately 162 or 163 with M22, M21 trans. Anyway you look at it total production puts this engine / car combo as 2nd or 3rd rarest of all time, behind ZL1, followed by a fuelie in one of the solid axle years. It also is the 2nd highest costing engine option behind ZL1. They are worth some serious money!
Sorry for the mix up in the price. That pricing was when the car was bought and sold years ago. I stated a coupe and it's a conv. with hardtop. The car is white with the tan leather. It could be the one that someone said from Canada. It has the M22 and most of the options but power windows and the last time I saw it was two years ago at a meet and from what my buddy and I could see it was still all original. I am pretty sure that the car has more miles on it than it shows but not by much. I know people in his area and they say he only drives it a few times in the summer. Anyways I am going to try to deal something on this and see what happens. I was just wondering what the car is worth since I never have seen one on the market that is a real LS6. If anyone has any more things that I should be considering on this please let me know. I have had numerous C3's and a LT1 now but this one I'm not sure of.
Thanks

Vettman: The convertible under current car collecting conditions WOULD be worth more than what I stated above. I would be interested in this car should you decide to pass on it, please let me know. I can be contacted at warrenls6@msn.com

If it's a real LS6 (one of 188) and in the condition you say at such a price, all I can say is don't haggle, just give him the money, get the title and drive fast and drive far before he changes hs mind!
